Our partners at WXYZ in Detroit report on a man whose family and property were endangered by a tree with dying branches. The resident had contacted the city numerous times dating back to 2012 about the tree, but had routinely been dismissed because the tree was still alive. The resident explained that he didn’t want the tree cut down, but rather trimmed to make it safer. Recently, a branch had fallen off the tree, causing $800 in damage to his truck. Fearing for the safety of his children, he contacted WXYZ’s Taking Action. They reached out to the city for answers, and a Public Works representative was sent out the same day. He confirmed that parts of the tree had died, and dispatched trimmers to fix the problem the next day.
