When a Hurricane Katrina survivor had difficulty dealing with FEMA over a payment issue, a Call 12 For Action volunteer helped mediate the process.

The issue began when the man, who currently lives in the Phoenix area, received a letter from FEMA demanding that he return over two thousand dollars of emergency assistance that he had received in the aftermath of the hurricane. Apparently, the agency was not sure that the man had been living in New Orleans at the time, a claim he quickly disputed by sending in his utility bills from 2005. Despite this, the man found he was making no headway for over a year.

Frustrated, he turned to Call 12 For Action to get results.
