Letters to "Do Not Call" Subscribers
Last week I did a report on a letter I had received that had in bold letters just above the address window the statement, Attn: Do not Call subscribers. Have you received one of these letters?
The letter was actually an ad for vinyl siding and windows. The solicitation I received may be considered a deceptive door opener. The Registry was used in a way that influenced my decision to open the letter rather than tossing it in the trash unopened.
I have sent a copy of the letter to the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC pursues complaints of this nature, although they need more than one example of this misuse of the Do Not Call Registry in order to open an investigation. That’s why I want to know if you have also received this letter.
I did hear from another consumer with the same letter. She is sending it to the FTC.
