MedPlan, Inc. is a Canadian based telemarketing business that has been reaching out to U.S. seniors, offering a 30-day trial membership to receive medical and health related discounts, at a cost of $349.

MedPlan claims that members receive discounts and savings on chiropractic, hearing, vision, and dental services and products as well as discounts on medicines. To make the offer even more attractive, MedPlan told consumers they would receive a full refund if they were unhappy after the trial period.

Consumers were asked to provide bank account information to authenticate their identities. In fact, MedPlan used the information to make unauthorized withdrawals and then refused to provide refunds.

Well, the authorities are catching up with MedPlan. Action has been taken against the Canadian telemarketer by one attorney general’s office and more may follow.
